Proof of BDE Course Completion

Proof of BDE Course Completion (DLH)

MTO-approved certification for Young Star Driving School students in Toronto & GTA.

Important: Please confirm with Young Star Driving School first that your BDE record has been submitted to MTO. Otherwise, if you request the DLH too early, ServiceOntario may still charge the $12 fee.

BDE → DLH Certification Flow

Here is the usual Ontario process after course completion.

1

BDE Online + In-Car

Complete 30 hours of e-learning and 10 hours of in-vehicle training with Young Star.

2

School Sends to MTO

Next, we submit your course completion in the MTO/BDE portal under your licence record.

3

Request DLH

After that, once we confirm the record is live, you can request the Certified Driver’s Licence History from ServiceOntario.

4

Show to Insurance

Finally, use the DLH when applying for the BDE driver discount with your insurance provider.

How to Get Your DLH

Option 1 — In Person

Visit any ServiceOntario office, show your driver’s licence, and ask for a Certified Driver’s Licence History.

  • Issued during the same visit
  • Government fee: $18
  • Only the licence holder can request it

Option 2 — Online

Alternatively, you can order the same record online and receive it by mail.

Order from Ontario.ca

However, order online only after Young Star confirms your certification.

What the DLH Shows

✓ Driver name and licence details
✓ Licence class, status, and expiry
✓ BDE Course Completed record from MTO
✓ Selected licence history details

Please note that the DLH is mainly used for insurance purposes. It does not show demerit points or convictions.

Please Note

  1. Only the licence holder can request the DLH.
  2. In many cases, BDE graduates may qualify for an insurance discount.
  3. Therefore, checking your status with Young Star first may help you avoid paying twice.
